The Government had imposed Excise Duty on specified minerals under Section 3 of the Excise Duty on Minerals (Labour Welfare) Act, 1967 at the rate of Rs.3/- per ton (minimum ) and Rs.5/- per ton (maximum) for financing measures for promoting the welfare of the labours employed in the mining industry. Actually it is a labour welfare cess and neither a Government tax nor revenue. The detail of excise duty collected during the years against the target fixed by the Finance Department Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
